The burro is an icon of the West; a stubborn companion to those who first ventured into the deserts. The descendants of those animals continue to roam the landscape today. A non-native species, which is unprotected on most federal lands, the future is uncertain for most of these animals that can be a victim of their own tenacity, grit and sheer will to survive in a harsh environment. It is a difficult issue that unfortunately leaves few practical long term solutions. ; Hence the Blue Burro.
